A Wealth of Experience
Kaaren Moitoza
Kaaren began her musical studies at age 5. She subsequently attended Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, MD, and graduated from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She has a rich and varied musical background:
- Founded Keyboard Kids in 1990 and has taught more than 1000 students
- Studied Classical with Leon Fleisher
- Studied Jazz with Woody Shaw
- Studied Electronic Music at Shoreline College
- Taught Classical Piano at the San Francisco Conservatory Preparatory Department
- Taught Yamaha and Harmony Road Courses for more than fifteen years
- Experienced with challenged and gifted students
- Kaaren continues to perform classical and jazz music at many venues including theater groups, clubs, concerts, hotels, and private parties
Rebecca Guthrie
Rebecca Guthrie began her piano studies with Kaaren Moitoza at the age of 4. She has since taken lessons from Christopher Nash and currently studies with Ron Traficante.
In 2004, Rebecca graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts from Western Washington University. She has been involved in musical theatre since the age of 12 and has worked as an education intern and assistant educator at Youth Theatre Northwest on Mercer Island since 2005.
Rebecca has tutored for Keyboard Kids since 2005. She enjoys nurturing a love of music in her students. She believes that studying piano from a young age fosters self-discipline, problem-solving, and appreciation for music in all forms.
